Last month I shared an interview with you from Erin, the creator of Indie Gift Box. Now this month I got a box to review and next month I’m a contributor to the boxes. If you couldn’t tell already, I absolutely love the idea behind Indie Gift Box and am really excited to help spread the word about it. Here is my review of the box as well as the idea itself.
First Glance: Truth be told, I was a little overzealous when unpacking the box and got only one picture. After that, everything was scattered amongst my house as I tried on the new jewelry and applied the new makeup. Only later (as in right now when I’m writing this review) did I realize I took one photo. But I’ll blame it on the awesome packaging and the goodies inside. Also, the packaging was perfect – it prevented damage to the products yet still allowed each shop to have it’s own feel in the box. I loved getting a feel for the shop and it’s products even before I got to take a good look at the products within the box.
The contents: I absolutely LOVED everything in the box. There was not a single thing that I didn’t like. However, I did have two favorites: the jar of mineral eyeshadow from All Natural Face and the two greeting cards from Paper Sparrow. The eye shadow was easy to apply and lasted all day which is a big deal for me as I hate re-applying make-up later on in the day. I know some family members that will love the greeting cards, too. There were also the following items:
- Three Hair ties from Elle Dee Designs - $6.00
- One handknit cuff made from handspun yarn from Gwen Erin – $6.00
- One wooden necklace from Mud Horse Art – $20.00
If you want to view all of the contents from all four boxes along with some other reviews, check out this post on the Indie Gift Box Blog.
The Value: The box I got was the Boho Box (pictured above) and it had a value of over $50! Erin currently only charges $15 which makes this box a steal. All of the other boxes had a value well-over the boxes price as well.
The Final Verdict: I love it! The setup for Indie Gift Box is really easy and very personalized which makes it perfect for pretty much any kind of customer : four types of boxes, all handmade goods, one price. Quality products, a simple process, and a ton of value for the money that is spent on a box. I truly would not have changed a single thing about it and will definitely be getting a box in the future. This truly is a great thing for handmade business owners and those who love to help support handmade businesses. It’s an easy way to find new handmade shops for a fraction of the price or help expose your products to a new audience. I would definitely recommend getting involved as a box buyer or contributor!
Don’t forget – I’m contributing something from the shop next month so sign up for your boxes!
I choose solitude over social scenes. Tea and wine over soda and beer. Simplicities over complexities. And chocolate over all of those things any day.
