Meet Sarah from A Cat-Like Curiosity and With Love from Me to You

Sum yourself up into one sentence. I am intent on living a curious life full of goals and ambitions: I aim to reach for the stars!

What do you currently do for a living? Is it what you’ve always dreamed of doing? If not, what would you like to be doing? I work in Education at the moment. I have my whole adult life, since leaving University. It was a role I always thought I wanted really. I do enjoy it, but it doesn’t allow me to be as creative as I would like to be. My dream really is to work for myself. To write, create and sell items in my store and to blog for a living.

If you could accomplish one BIG thing in your lifetime, what would it be? My dream in the first instance is to be debt free. I have managed already to pay off over £6,000 worth of debt by scrimping and saving. I would like to clear my final loan asap. That will leave me with much more breathing space for setting up my own business. My ultimate dream is to make a living creatively, working for myself.

Portraits of the people you love

What is something you struggled with and had to overcome in your life? The most difficult thing I have had to deal with so far is depression. My blog began when I stumbled across the book The Secret. I started to write as a way to document my experiences of trying to live with the techniques of this way of life. It really was a turning point for me. Up until then I had been feeling really quite stuck. I felt that I had messed up my career, my finances were a nightmare and I just wasn’t really sure what to do about it all. I didn’t really think there was anything I could do. I had succumbed to a deep depression and was really very ill.

Then I read The Secret. It really opened my eyes. I must preface this with the fact that before this I had NEVER EVER read any kind of self-help book at all. I had some pretty negative views on them actually, and to be honest thought that only weirdo’s would read such a thing. How wrong was I?

I started to try and use the techniques in the book to overhaul my outlook on life, and the results were just what I needed. I have been on a journey from being seriously depressed to being full of energy, ideas and inspiration in a very short space of time.

What is the best advice you have ever received? The best advice I received was from a vicar who coached me through my Confirmation. He said to me “Remember that your faith is with God, not the church. The church is only a man-made institution, and it will let you down sometimes.”

I am not a massively religious person these days (I do believe in God, but I don’t attend church regularly). But I think this advice can be taken in many ways. Correspondingly I put my faith in myself and my loved ones. Other people may come and go, but I know the core people around and ultimately that I myself won’t be going anywhere.

What inspires and/or motivates you to do more, or to do better? I get inspiration from all over the internet I guess, but my core goals are what really motivate me and keep me going. Here they are in a nutshell:

  • Keep training and get to my goal weight.
  • Continue to work on and make a success of my blog, Etsy and Store Envy stores.
  • Make a success of my Debt-Free ASAP plan.
  • Complete my novel “Snapshots of Sophie” and submit it to agents.
  • Crochet blankets for my house.
  • Learn to produce better digital art work on my new android tablet.

How are you currently chasing your dreams? I am adding new items to my store each day and writing regularly. I network and socialize amongst other bloggers and store owners in order to get my work out there. I have submitted my writing to various literary agents (no bites so far but keep your fingers crossed for me!)

With all of the spare time I have, I work towards my goals steadily each and every day.

Today’s Thought: We got the biggest zucchini EVER last week and we’re still trying to eat it. We’ve mad multiple things of zucchini bread, lasagna, and seasoned vegetables but it just won’t go away.
