This weekend was by far the best of the year so far. Simple, relaxed, and a total change of pace from the beginning of the year. Sometimes you just need things to be quiet, and even a bit boring, to recharge. No plans led to a spontaneous Friday night date that consisted of dinner and a movie: pasta fresca from Noodles & Co + Breaking Dawn Part 2 at a local cinema. I was sad to see it end, but thought it was by far the best Twilight movie of all. If only for the arm wrestling scene. We also spent time during dinner discussing business and scheduled a weekly coffee date for the future to do the same because it was so nice to get the creative juices flowing outside of the house.
We also spent some time developing and testing out new products for The Gnarly Whale, including a whipped body butter. This is one of those nice reminders as to why I love this business: I get to try out SO many things and make products for myself. This will be coming to the shop in the upcoming months along with conditioner, dog shampoo, and some other types of lotions. It’s leaves my skin super soft and moisturized.
Since we were cooped up all weekend with the weather, we figured baths were needed. Both dogs HATE baths, but they don’t mind the blowdryer. In fact, Sookie (below) LOVES the blowdryer and will come running when I blow dry my hair and wait for her turn. She also loves vacuums and electric air dusters. Pretty much anything that blows or sucks air and is loud is her best friend.
And that is something I’ll miss a ton when we move. I’ve always loved cold nights or rainy days by the fire. It’s one of the best ways to relax. But I’m pretty sure that I’d trade the beach for a fireplace any day.
And in other, non-related but way more exciting news . . .
I’m going to my first blog conference this year!
Not only am I going to Bloggy Conference, but I somehow managed to convince Nathan to go with me. And I’m SO excited. Like crazy, ridiculously excited. Especially because it’s at Cedar Point which we have ALWAYS wanted to go to. If you live in or near OH, you should go so we can meet!
