Seven Day Push Challenge

Photobucket

The first challenge of the new Seven Day Push project is here and we’re going back to the beginning. This week’s challenge is no spend week again and I could not be more excited for it!

Be sure to head over to the new blog for the project to read more information and see who’s participating. The participants list will be updated by the end of the day!

Seven Day Push

As you saw about a week ago, the Seven Day Push took a mini-hiatus.

I wanted a week to rebrand the project and give it more life. Give it more meaning. And more importantly, give it more room to grow than it had on my blog. I decided a separate blog would be best for this project and it’s ready for you to view!

Everything’s explained in the first blog post and I would absolutely LOVE for people to get involved with it! The link on this blog will now relocate to the new website which means all those involved from the previous run will need to re-sign up if you’re still interested in participating!

Be sure to check out the new site!

7 Day Push: A Week Off

Photobucket

This week I’m actually taking a break from the 7 Day Push. Here’s why:

  • It hasn’t challenged me in a way that I want it to. Mentioning it once a week hasn’t pushed me to push beyond my comfort zone more often than not and it’s lost a bit of it’s mmph to get me moving.
  • I want to get more people involved outside of sporadic tweets.
  • I want more space to discuss the 7 Day Push.

That being said, the 7 Day Push is getting a much-needed facelift this week. I’ll be creating a new blog that is strictly for the 7 Day Push so we can have multiple posts throughout the week, including guest posts from our participants. It will also be a way for us to contact with other participants in one central area.

If you have any ideas for weekly themes, want to do a guest post, or have any ideas for the project, please let me know! The site will launch Tuesday September 6 which means you get a full week off. If you need a challenge, push yourself to enjoy the last few days of August and the first few days of September. Enjoy some of the summer before it cools down!

See you September 6!

7 Day Push – Week 11: Drink Your Water

Photobucket

This Week’s Challenge: Drink 64 ounces of water a day this week

There are many health benefits of drinking the suggested amount of water, yet very few of us actually do it. If you’re not a water drinker, up your intake of water through fruits such as watermelon that are mostly water if need be. Do your best to build up to the suggested amount of 64oz a day by the end of the week if doing it right away is not a feasible task for you. Drinking enough water a day can help you feel full longer so it’s like you’re killing two birds with one stone this week. ;]

MY RECAP FROM LAST WEEK: Most days I ate more fruits and veggies than I used to and definitely didn’t hate it. There were some days where I didn’t eat the recommended amount for myself, but I still ate some each day. I think I’ll continue this challenge for a while because I love it when I eat healthy and exercise – I always feel so positive about myself and life in general when I’m doing what’s right for my body.

7 Day Push – Week 10: Eat Your Fruits & Veggies

Photobucket

This Week’s Challenge: Eat your fruits and veggies

This week is all about eating healthy! The CDC has put together a really awesome website for the amount that every person should eat depending on their lifestyle, age, and gender. It has tips on what kinds of vegetables and fruits to eat, how to change it up, and for those that are budget conscious (me!) it even has tips on making it work for whatever budget you have. Focus on eating a variety of colors and kinds of fruits and veggies this week!

I’m really psyched about this week’s challenge because there are a ton of fruits that won’t be in season here much longer. I’m anxious to eat some yummy summer fruits and veggies before the Fall ones start popping up in the store and at the Farmer’s Market.
*Special thanks to Fuzzynk for next week’s challenge idea!

LAST WEEK’S RECAP: I actually didn’t post for two days out of last week so I would say I did pretty good. With a new puppy and having the flu, it aided in me stepping away a bit more. It was a really good reminder for me to just enjoy things in the present.

7 Day Push – Week 9: Step Away Fom Technology

Photobucket

This Week’s Challenge: Step away from technology

This is the week to step back from the computer, the phone, the television – whatever it is that keeps you captivated for far too long and live life. Enjoy the outdoors, time with your family, reading a book or being creative. See how much you can accomplish without being tied to technology for a week and make an effort to do things you used to do before technology became such a big part of your life.

With Sookie being added to the family, this is actually not a tough one for me. But it’s a really good reminder of staying off the computer to pay attention to her + our other pets as we help her grow and adjust. :]

*Special thanks to Newfoundlander at Heart for next week’s challenge idea!

LAST WEEK’S RECAP: Thinking positive got increasingly more difficult throughout the week with the new one. Watching furniture being chewed on, cleaning up the potty messes, listening to the howling as we tried to crate train Sookie, and trying to make sure our other pets weren’t too stressed became more and more difficult as we got less and less sleep. But overall, this stayed in the back of my head and reminded me that it just gets better from here on out.

7 Day Push: Week 8 – Think Positive Week

Photobucket

This Week’s Challenge: Think positive week

This week is focused on the positive over the negative. I know it’s pretty unlikely to completely remove negative thoughts or negative things from your life, but use this week to try to focus on the good over the bad. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones as they arise and try to greet each day with a positive attitude. Focus on all of the good things that are in your life right now and make the best out of the negative whenever you can.

LAST WEEK’S RECAP: It was a good week! A lot of you were nice enough to send me an email and introduce yourself which I loved, but I also branched out and found some new blogs to read and made more of an effort to chat with people on Twitter. It was a hectic week for me overall so this will be continued for me this week as I didn’t get to devote as much time to it as I wanted to.

7 Day Push: Week 7 – Meet New People

Photobucket

This Week’s Challenge: Meet new people

Branch out this week and meet new people. Whether it’s in person, a new blogger, someone on Twitter – it doesn’t matter. But make an effort to do more than just say hello. Maybe it means sending an email, asking someone to hang out, or leaving a lengthy comment on their blog. Use this week to get out of your usual social circle’s comfort zone and find out how many other lovely people there are out there, just waiting for you to say hello. :)

LAST WEEK’S RECAP: I took a lot of me time last week, including some much needed me + my husband time. I relaxed, I slept in some days, I took a break from the daily grind and feel 100x better going into this week. I need to do this more often. We also started cooking new meals again which is something I truly love but for some reason always gets passed over. Yesterday we made a vegetarian pot pie and tonight we’re making egglant pitas – YUM!

7 Day Push: Week 6 – Take Time For Yourself

Photobucket

This Week’s Challenge: Take time for yourself week

This week is the week to step back and relax a bit. Take a break from the hectic days and spend even 15 minutes for yourself each day. Maybe you’ve been pushing off a trip to the spa or prevented yourself from indulging in yourself for a bit. Or maybe you’ve just forgotten to take some time to smell the roses or read a good book. No matter the situation, take some time for yourself this week as a reward for all of the work you’ve been doing in these challenges. ;)

This is much needed for me this week. After preparing for the craft show and ending up with some yuck heat exhaustion from yesterday, I’m ready for a bit of a break from the usual routine. It will probably end up with me being away from the computer more, which is a good thing I think.

LAST WEEK’S RECAP: One day was pretty rough for me in which I probably ate my weight in carbs and dessert. But the rest of the days I did pretty well. Overall, a decent week and a good reminder that I should have more fruit in the house.

7 Day Push: Week 5 – No Dessert

Photobucket

Week 5 Challenge: No Dessert

This week is all about skipping the sweets and making better food choices. Replace the candy bar with a bowl of fruit and swap out the m&ms for mints and gum. Dessert is far from a necessary part of every meal, but for myself, I have a sweet tooth that I struggle with on a regular basis and want to kick that habit. I love fresh fruit in the summer so my goal this week is to replace my usual cravings with a variety of fruits.

LAST WEEK’S RECAP: Last week was a good week for me. Our house is 90% clean and organized, my craft show is 75% prepped for, and school work is organized. I needed this week pretty badly so I’m super excited that it worked out well. We also did not eat out once which was a continuation of the previous week’s challenge, but a major improvement for us so I was pretty happy about that too!
